2026 Reading Plan
My June reading list - a couple of carryovers, a couple of new titles to read and listen to, and an Adler title I am rereading for my Mortimer Adler Fan Club project. #personalscholar #readinglist #books #2026reading #reading For the Love of Lists I think I have a new favorite food. #kimchipickles #HEB #clevelandkitchen Book mail is the best mail! Franz de Waalโ€™s Are We Smart Enough is the upcoming read for Science Book Club and Iโ€™m so excited to get started. And Dubliners is a must-read of Irish Literature (so says Cillian Murphy). #2026reading #tbr #reading #books #personalscholar Iโ€™m about to micromanage tf out of my family. #commencingmicromanagement #skylightcalendar Book mail is the best mail! Getting a late start for PHM - but Iโ€™m getting ready to start the audiobook and will finally watch the movie. I need a hard copy for notes. #2026reading #sciencefiction #personalscholar #books #reading My yellow bellied racer skeleton, or what survived. It took one week for the flies (and larvae) and ants to completely break down the flesh. Iโ€™m bummed I only have a few tiny ribs. We had a thunderstorm come through and though I protected it from the rain the wind was not kind. Iโ€™ve got to come up with a more secure way to monitor decomposition and keep the skeleton intact. And my spouse wasnโ€™t a big fan of me laying it on cardboard on our picnic table. ๐Ÿซ  #texas #texassnakes #naturestudy Nature study isnโ€™t always pretty, but it IS interesting! A few days ago my son found this snake on the road and carried it home to me (my kids are the best!). It was fully intact on Wednesday when I set it out but you can see what has happened over just a couple of days. Most of the middle has been consumed, the tail area is currently being broken down (see the maggots?!), the head region is still intact. Itโ€™s fascinating to watch in real time. You canโ€™t tell at this point, but this is a yellowbellied racer. #texas #texassnakes #naturestudy This morning I had a Black-bellied Whistling Duck hanging out on my property. He or she (they are monomorphic so I canโ€™t tell) called like this for several minutes, quite a treat for me! Another one showed up and flew over and further into the trees. Eventually my new friend flew off to meet them. I live close enough to the lake so not unusual for them to be in the area but I donโ€™t typically see them on my property. #texas #texasbirds #birdwatching
