2026 Reading Plan
I found this 1976 CJ Cherryh at HPB last week! 🤩 #cjcherryh #homelibrary I found these at the Walmart in Atlanta this weekend and I won’t rest until I can find them here in Texas. #tictacs April has been a hectic month, and I ended up pulling some books from my current reads (nonfiction) stack for later this summer. Most of these are titles I have been working on since March, and hope to finish later this month. I did start a new audiobook - Richard Dawkins' The God Delusion. I've got a few of his books scheduled for this year, but wanted to start with this one. A wonderful mix of science and philosophy. One of my handicapped chickens. Two of my chickens battled bumble foot last year. This is Beeper - her infection resulted in her foot dying and falling off. She now has a stump. I wrap it to keep the stump clean and give her a bit of padding. She actually gets around quite well and is able to jump enough, so that she still able to live in the coop with the rest of the flock. #backyardchickens One of our regulars (the same one from the previous video) came to take some eggs. I gave him a few minutes to finish and then gently moved him closer to the fence. #texasratsnake #westernratsnake #texas I don’t usually get to hang out with our rat snakes like this. Usually I’m chiding them gently while removing them from nesting boxes at night before I close up the coop. But this guy greeted me at the gate and then gave me a photoshoot. Since he didn’t need to be removed I didn’t touch or interact beyond chatting and filming. But he was heading in the general direction of the coop so I may end up seeing him again later tonight. 😄 #texas #texasratsnake #westernratsnake There were large groups of birds flying near Lake Somerville today. I think they were snow geese. This was one of three or four large groups I saw. These were little high up so the white flashing that occurs during their murmuration-like flight behavior wasn’t too evident in this video. Edited to add - someone corrected me and said these were likely white pelicans. I think they look similar when they fly in groups so I appreciate the correction. #lakesomerville #texas #texasbirds #birdwatching I’ve got a woodpecker who has been visiting this particular branch for years. I can’t tell but I think they are either a Downy or a Hairy Woodpecker. #birdwatching #texas #texaswoodpecker I ordered the Lochby Mini Journal - lots of pockets, holds four notebooks - Field Notes sized (3.5 x 5.5 in).
