Michelle Home Scholar Disclaimers

2026 Reading Plan
Nature study isnโ€™t always pretty, but it IS interesting! A few days ago my son found this snake on the road and carried it home to me (my kids are the best!). It was fully intact on Wednesday when I set it out but you can see what has happened over just a couple of days. Most of the middle has been consumed, the tail area is currently being broken down (see the maggots?!), the head region is still intact. Itโ€™s fascinating to watch in real time. You canโ€™t tell at this point, but this is a yellowbellied racer. #texas #texassnakes #naturestudy This morning I had a Black-bellied Whistling Duck hanging out on my property. He or she (they are monomorphic so I canโ€™t tell) called like this for several minutes, quite a treat for me! Another one showed up and flew over and further into the trees. Eventually my new friend flew off to meet them. I live close enough to the lake so not unusual for them to be in the area but I donโ€™t typically see them on my property. #texas #texasbirds #birdwatching Snake porn. My spouse surprised two rat snakes doing the deed on the back patio. He tried to get a good video for me but he surprised them and they fled. I managed to pull footage off the security camera. Fingers crossed for snake babies! #texas #texasrstsnakes New books this week. My daughter wants to read Shutter Island (neither of us has ever seen the movie) and Salt Water is a mystery recommended to us by a BN employee, and looks fascinating. And I was happy to see they sell a pocket version of the US Constitution - and for $2 there is no excuse for anyone to not have one. I may order a case to distribute to people. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ #books #reading #2026reading #personalscholarship Book mail is the best mail! Iโ€™m reading through The Daily Stoic this year, and wanted to add this to the list for later this year. #books #reading #2026reading #stoics Iโ€™m spending my Sunday wrapping up a couple of books from April. I really enjoyed Anne Bogelโ€™s Iโ€™d Rather Be Reading. I love books about books! #reading #books #idratherbereading #2026reading Book mail is the best mail! Some science fiction for the TBR shelf. #2026reading Ironclad beetle play dead - I released him after taking this pic but if I had held him a bit longer he would have gotten comfortable and started to move around. The little feet are adorable! #texas #insects #ironclads Iโ€™m just out here stalking the wildlife. #jumpingspidersโค๏ธ #spoods #texas
