Science Fair 2013

We will be headed to Barnes and Noble La Cantera later today for one of two information sessions being held about the upcoming homeschool Science Fair (January 26th – 2 PM and 6 PM). Located here in San Antonio, the Science Fair is hosted by TORCH San Antonio and sponsored by SREIT. Information regarding the Science Fair can be found on the SREIT website here. While you are over at the SREIT website, check out some of their other offerings. I’m pretty excited to have Kyri take part in some of the upcoming classes they have scheduled!

Here is some info regarding the upcoming fair (but be sure to check out SREIT’s website for more details!).

  • Date: April 13th, 2013 10:00 – 3:00
  • For participants in PK – 12 (requirments and expectations differ based on grade level)
  • Fee: Free for TORCH members and $5 for non-members
  • Deadline for entry: February  28, 2013

This will be our first year to participate. I have been talking to Kyri for the past several weeks about it, to peak her interest and get her thinking about what she might like to prepare. For her age, a demonstration (rather than an experiment) might be something she would prefer.

I picked out two children’s books this past week that discuss Science fairs, to give her an idea of what the students do, what is expected of them, etc. These are fiction stories but paint a fun picture of science fairs.
